Curt Landry told how at the T. L. Osborne service, wheelchairs were flying through the air! Crutches were flying too!
During one of his visits to Africa, T. L. Osborne held a meeting with believers… It was in Togo…
We went there to bring people the doctrine of the new man that the Apostle Paul wrote about in his letter to the Ephesians. Where it says that God, working in us by power, can do incomparably more than we have asked or thought. We had a lot to look forward to this meeting. We had never before performed in front of so many people. There were about 40,000 people there. The meeting was held on the soccer field. By the third night, there were about 50,000 people.
Christy and I took the stage and prayed for repentance. Then I asked God to send a blessing to these people and it came to them. The meeting was held in three languages. I spoke in English and was translated into the local language and French. There was a sense of power at that meeting.
Dr. Osborne deliberately went backstage. He said he would return when I had prepared a suitable atmosphere. Earlier we had discussed what I was to do. And, well, he came back. He didn’t talk for very long, about five or seven minutes.
And, then, to our left, an event happened that changed our lives. To our left, a woman was standing not far away. She screamed. Dr. Osborne was very sensitive about this kind of thing. He taught me, “Always when you approach people, look for signs from God. Remember that God has to send you a sign first. Don’t run ahead of God. Just preach.”
That woman’s cry was a sign to him. I’ll never forget how he turned to her: “Mother, come up to us.” Several people helped her up to the stage. At that moment Dr. Osborne was standing on the stage. I was sitting with the other pastors. He gave us very strict instructions. I am a man of honor and I always keep my word. When he addressed the woman, I jumped up from my seat and stood next to him. He wouldn’t let me do that, but I stood next to him.
I looked into that woman’s beautiful eyes. She had been suffering from glaucoma until that evening. At that moment, she cried out because suddenly, miraculously, she could see. God is truly great! He opened her eyes. I didn’t even understand how it happened, but it really happened. I praise the Lord alone in everything…
That’s what I especially liked about Dr. Osborne, he didn’t want false miracles. He wanted to make sure it really happened. He showed her some fingers. She was able to count them. It was wonderful! He asked her exactly how she went blind. The woman said it happened during her second pregnancy. She had injured her back and lost her vision. Dr. Osborne asked: “Do you have children?” The woman replied, “Yes, I have five children.” Then he asked another question, “So you haven’t seen most of your children?” “Yes,” the woman replied.
Dr. Osborne turned to the people. I stood next to him, even though I shouldn’t have done so. I didn’t realize it until afterward, and then I stood there with round eyes… A handsome young man came on the stage. He was the woman’s son. He stood right in front of her. She didn’t react at all. The woman looked at him as if she did not know him. Then he walked closer to her, took her hands, and brought them to his face. She began to touch his face: eyes, cheekbones, lips. And then she burst into tears! She fell to her knees and began to praise the Lord.
As soon as she did, a wave of glory came off the stage. The military, who had kept people away from the stage, could not restrain people and they ran to the stage. The wheelchairs were flying in the air! The crutches were flying too! It was the glory of God!
